Hormone Therapy

HORMONE THERAPY AT FOOTSTEPS TO WELLNESS

A decline in hormones is a natural process of human aging that affects us all. In fact, while it may be more common as you age, it can affect anyone across the lifespan. Replacing and optimizing unbalanced hormones – thyroid, testosterone, estrogen, progesterone and cortisol are beneficial to both health and quality of life. All hormones are created by different endocrine glands that travel through the bloodstream to different tissues and organs. Each hormone has its own goal, carrying specific messages to their target cells in different tissues and organs. The body’s hormones are responsible for regulating and balancing almost every major bodily function.
Hormonal imbalances can affect people of any age due to underlying factors such as stress, medical conditions and lifestyle habits, not just those over 40. While most people accept these changes as a natural part of aging, you no longer have to do so. With hormone therapy, we can help you regain and restore your optimal hormone levels and feel like your true self again.
Hormone treatments are customized to each patient’s personal needs and biological levels, providing your body with the exact supplements required to restore its natural balance and help optimize your wellbeing. Unlike an antibiotic, you will not see benefits overnight. Hormone replacement therapy takes time to work; however you will start to see an improvement within the first month of therapy.

Biodentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) is a type of hormone therapy that uses hormones identical to those produced naturally by your body. Bioidentical hormones use a range of natural ingredients —like plants and compounded hormones— to supplement your system with hormones that are an exact match for those already in your body. Unlike most synthetic hormones, bioidentical hormones are immediately recognized as hormones and absorbed by the body —often yielding faster and more noticeable results.

As opposed to synthetic hormones, bioidentical hormones have the same molecular structure as the hormones produced by your body and offer more effective symptom relief than synthetic hormones, with fewer risks and side effects. Another important difference between bioidentical and synthetic hormone replacement is that bioidentical hormones can be custom compounded to your unique needs, symptoms, and lifestyle. Synthetic hormones are standardized, with a limited number of available dosages and formulas.

Hormone replacement essentially is replacing the deficient hormone to be in the “normal” lab range to correct deficiencies.

Unlike hormone replacement therapy (HRT), which essentially replaces the deficient hormone to be in the “normal” lab range to correct deficiencies; hormone optimization not only replaces hormones, but safely optimizes levels to help you feel the most optimal. Many people have symptoms of hormonal imbalances even when their lab test results still show them as “in range”. With hormonal optimization we safely prescribe hormone therapy to optimize your hormonal levels, health and wellbeing – especially when your lab tests are normal but you don’t feel normal.
