Semax, a synthetic analogue of a fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH). Semax is a neuroprotective peptide, predominantly a nootropic, which has neurogenic/ neurorestorative properties. Semax increases levels and expression of the brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). BDNF are chemicals that help to stimulate and control neurogenesis, the birth of new neurons in the brain. BDNF helps to support the survival of existing neurons and encourages the growth, regeneration, and creation of new neurons and synapses.
